Jason Gayne is the HVSC Executive Director. Jason comes to us with a vast knowledge and experience. He had been involved in several non-profits over the years. He is also a Police Officer for the Town of Skowhegan. He is excited for this opportunity and is looking to build the organization, and get very involved in the Somerset County community.
Jason graduated from the University of Maine at Fort Kent—with a AA in Criminal Justice, BS in Public Administration. He also attended Thomas College and earned a MS in Education, and is currently working on his MBA.

Karen Champagne completed her volunteer training in 2012. She went on to further her Hospice Education by taking the bereavement companions training and childrens’ grief group training. She has co-facilitated grief support groups and worked with bereavement companions. Her husband passed away 10 years ago. She has been busy raising their 9 children. She loves the summer months and everything that goes with that season.
Bereavement Services Coordinator
Christine Demchak graduated from Madison High School, attended business school for a year, and then went on to complete four years of study at the University of Maine at Farmington graduating with a B.S. in Education. For over 30 years, her niche in life was teaching at Madison Junior High School in the area of reading and social studies.
She was known for her passion for life as well as her understanding and compassion for adolescents.
Christine has brought these traits to her position as Bereavement Services Coordinator which involves supporting grieving families for a year after the loss of a loved one.
Christine is blessed with family that includes her significant other, her daughter Susan, her grandchildren Brianna and Matt, and her independent cat named Soxx. She enjoys singing in her church’s choir, reading, flower gardening, participating in water sports, watching the Red Sox, and performing in plays at Lakewood Theater.
